THE 2007 Children’s Book of the Year winner has inspired local kids at a recent library reading.
Author Catherine Bateson spoke at Hampton Park Library about her award-winning book Being Bee.
Thirty Grade five students from River Gum Primary School were enthralled listening to the coveted children’s author after it was announced that she was the winner of the Children’s Book Council of Australia award last month.
The children learnt about Catherine’s inspiration for writing the book and were able to brainstorm ideas for their own stories with the author.
The Belgrave author has written poetry, verse novels, and novels for younger and older readers and has also won awards for her books Painted Love Letters and Rain May and Captain Daniel.
