CRANBOURNE Ladies Probus Club celebrated its 25th birthday in style this month and honoured some of its longstanding members.
About 30 women attended the celebration on 3 October at Blue Hills in Cranbourne.
The event started with a special meeting to mark the 25 years since the club’s foundation.
During the meeting, club president Ivy Watson presented Probus Life Membership plaques to Merle Watson, Thelma Barnes, Glenys Thompson and Adele Flanigan.
Merle Watson was one of the founding members of the Cranbourne club and the other life membership recipients had notched up many years of service between them.
President Ms Watson, when presenting the plaques, congratulated the ladies on their loyal service and regular attendance at meetings over many years.
The club was formed in October 1988 and met monthly at the Presbyterian Church Hall.
Inaugural members including Dacia Ashby, Edie Tyrus, Carol Lewis, Ms Watson and Shirley Burns are still active in the club and attended the anniversary celebrations.
As part of the celebration, Ms Watson cut a 25th anniversary cake, which was served with morning tea.
The women then enjoyed musical entertainment and a three-course lunch.
Retired or semi-retired ladies interested in joining Probus should contact club secretary Merle Watson on 5996 7859 or treasurer Edie Tyrus on 5996 1615.
