THE sun was shining as a huge crowd rolled out for the annual season opening of the Cranbourne Bowls Club.
On Saturday 31 August, around 70-80 members celebrated the new bowls year with a game in the sunshine.
Now in its 51st year, the club boasts around 195 members and men’s president and committee member Keith Bowler was thrilled to see a great turn out on Saturday.
“We had a full house,” he said.
“We started our training for the pennant.”
City of Casey Councillor Geoff Ablett attended the opening and said the club offered a very positive vibe.
“It was terrific to hear the positive remarks about being part of a great club,” Cr Ablett said.
“Council is really looking forward to the next financial year to create many more sealed car parks to improve this facility.”
Cr Ablett also commented on the continual growth of the club.
“The club is growing rapidly and there are a lot of new members on the board with a lot of new ideas and energy, he said.
Inga Peulich was another guest who attended the opening.
“It is one of the best clubs I have attended, and I was honoured to be invited,” she said.
“I look forward to calling in on many more occasions – they are such a friendly, positive and close group of people, and everyone is welcome.”
