‘Greatest’ dad honoured

By BRIDGET SCOTT

ACCORDING to 10-year-old Kieren , his father is ’the greatest, most perfect dad ever.’
This said, it was only fitting that Daniel Lewis was awarded the Casey Race Father of the Year.
Last Friday 30 August, the Skye resident was given this honour after son Kieren nominated him earlier in the year.
There was an element of surprise involved when Mr Lewis discovered he won, but he said he couldn’t be happier.
“I was so happy that Kieren thought enough of me to nominate me,” he said.
“I was very proud.”
Mr Lewis was presented with his award at his son’s school assembly at Woodlands Primary School last Friday in front of an admiring son.
Kieran, who is in Grade 4, designed a poster for his father, outlining the reasons he thinks his dad deserved the accolade.
’My dad does so much for our family,’ said Kieren who also mentioned the commitment that Mr Lewis has to his children.
“He has two kids who are hard as it is,” Kieran wrote.
“But he has another kid who has a few problems and is super hard to look after, that’s why I think my dad is the father of the year.”
Humbled by the award, Mr Lewis described himself as ’quite a shy person’, but said it was nice to attend his son’s assembly and be presented with this.
Kieren’s family have kept a copy of the nomination for the Father of the Year award, in which he signed off on by saying ’I love my dad.’
