Eagle eyes on fourth straight flag

By JARROD POTTER

CAN Cranbourne Youth Girls football team go four-in-a-row? It’s not an achievement casually fulfilled in football – Collingwood achieved it in 1927 to 1930 with a few other contenders knocking in three-peats.
Facing the Eagles this week … more Eagles. This time of the Beaconsfield variety – featuring a star-studded list and the motivation to claim their first South East Juniors Youth Girls premiership.
“Beacy’s going to be a test – we had a really great contest earlier in the year and I’m looking forward to it,” Cranbourne coach Keith Edwards said.
“If we could get four (premierships in a row) that would be fantastic, but just getting there with this new bunch – 13 new girls – it simply would be fantastic.
“What more can you ask.”
The challenge was laid for the Eagles after a thrilling 31-point win over Berwick – with Hayley Wildes kicking three goals in another stellar performance.
Hampton Park booked their spot in the Youth Girls Division 2 grand final, set to face Narre Warren after a one-point win over Hallam.
For more on the South East Juniors results can be found in this week’s edition of the Pakenham Gazette or Pakenham-Berwick Gazette.
