Vandals targetting homes, businesses

By Sarah Schwager
CRANBOURNE homes and businesses are being attacked in random acts of vandalism across the suburb.
Police have been unable to explain the high number of vandal attacks in the Cranbourne response zone over the last week, which they say do not appear to be connected. Last Thursday night, a fire extinguisher and tackle box were stolen from a boat parked in the carport of a Normanby Street home. The owners then found Cranbourne’s postcode “3977” written in Texta across the side of the boat.
Early on Saturday morning a 37-year-old Hampton Park woman was sleeping at her Alma Road house when a large clump of clay was thrown through the bedroom window, smashing through the glass and hitting the other side of the room.
A 63-year-old Pearcedale man woke on Sunday morning to find a window smashed and spray painting across the front of his house and the neighbour’s adjoining property and fence.
In another incident last week, a rock was thrown through the front door of a house, while in Caroline Crescent in Cranbourne obscene words were scratched into the boot of a woman’s car.
Detective Senior Constable Mick van Hamond from Cranbourne CIU urged any witnesses to vandalism attacks to contact police immediately.
Call the officer in charge on 5991 0661.
