LOCAL kids took the fun out of the water these school holidays at the Cranbourne Indoor Pool.
The Cranbourne YMCA decided to make its holiday program more winter friendly and so ran a range of activities out of the pool from art and crafts to indoor sports and games.
The kids made model dinosaurs, did finger painting, painting, played soccer and indoor games such as a ball tag game called Star Wars. They topped off the day with a sausage sizzle and then had free entry to the pool if they still wanted a swim.
Centre manager Maurice Rossetti said the July program was a bit different from the traditional in the water activities.
“This showed you don’t have to get wet to have fun at the Cranbourne YMCA,” he said.
Mr Rossetti said the theme for the day was enhancing kids’ social competencies by allowing them to learn things together and interact.
YMCA School Holiday Program coordinator Melinda Carlson said the program also focused on teaching kids to use their time constructively and she said they certainly did that, fitting numerous activities into the day.
