WILD pigs running rampant in Casey? Maybe when pigs fly.
But that is not as absurd as it sounds with claims that wild pigs a wreaking havoc on a number of farms in the Clyde area.
Ted Wynen, who owns Miegunyah cattle farm in Clyde, said there were at least a dozen wild pigs around the area.
Mr Wynen said they have been bathing in his dam, and chewing up his paddocks and those of other farms in the area, including market gardens.
“It was a mystery for a while there about whose animals where chewing up everything,” he said.
Mr Wynen said he was inspecting his fence line one day and saw the foot prints. He also now has photos of them.
“I went over to my neighbour to tell him, and before I could say anything he yelled out to me from his tractor ‘Ted your cows are getting into my gardens and chewing them up’,” he said.
“I said to him ‘pigs arse’!”
A City of Casey spokesperson said the council has not received any reports of wild pigs in the area.
“Where there are reports of pest animals on public land, council will work with DEPI Department of Environment and Primary Industries) to undertake animal control where possible,” the spokesperson said.
