MORE than 180 golfers teed off for a good cause at the Browns Sawdust and Shavings Annual Charity Golf Day on Friday.
Golfers from about 40 local business dressed in pink flooded onto the two championship golf courses at Sandhurst Golf Club creating a sea of pink to raise funds in the battle against breast cancer.
The event raised more than $35,000 for the McGrath Foundation.
Browns Sawdust and Shavings managing director Scott Brown said in the past they have raised money for EJ Whitten Foundation and Make-A-Wish Australia.
“We wanted to do something different this year and raise money for the ladies,” he said.
“One of our major sponsors suggested the McGrath Foundation so we went with that.”
Mr Brown said the day was a great success.
“It was a big task as we almost doubled the numbers from previous years and moved the event to Sandhurst to cater for the bigger group.
“But it all went very smoothly.
“I want to thanks the major sponsor, Hallam Truck Centre.”
The golf day was the fourth one the business has hosted and brings the tally to almost $200,000 raised over the past four years for charity.
Mr Brown said they hoped to do it again next year even bigger and better.
