STUDENTS at Cranbourne Secondary College were given some inspiration to start off the year in the right direction at the outset.
During their first week of school, Year 9 students were treated to a talk by guest speaker Declan Fay to set them off on the right foot for the year ahead.
Mr Fay is an inspirational speaker, comedian, author, performer, journalist and comedy writer who has been on a wide range of television and radio programs.
He has also performed at the Comedy festival and the Fringe Festival.
Cranbourne Secondary College teacher Paul Evans said they had Mr Fay talk to students each year.
“Declan Fay is invited to speak to our students every year to inspire them to achieve their best at school and make the most of their life opportunities,” he said.
“He spoke about his own life experiences using his comedic talents to deliver his message, about goal-setting, resilience and determination to be your best, through hilarious anecdotes that had his student audience in stitches.
“Every year, our students always use the inspiration of Declan Fay’s speech to set them on the right pathway for the year ahead.”
After the talk, students celebrated the beginning of the new year with the Year 9 Welcome Barbecue, where students enjoyed an afternoon tea of sausages and fruit prepared and cooked by volunteers.
