A SPUR of the moment decision has paid off for a Cranbourne student.
The 2010 St Peter’s College graduate Kristel Krella decided to fill in some time one day and had a go at trying to attain a scholarship, something she had never considered doing before.
The decision paid off with Kristel recently being awarded a $6000 Monash University scholarship to put towards her HEC debt.
Kristel said she was thrilled to receive the scholarship, which was awarded for academic excellence and equity.
“I’m really surprised and, obviously, very excited to receive notification of my scholarship result,” she said.
“Anyone undertaking further study should consider taking the time to seek out what scholarships are available and giving it a go.”
Kristel is studying for a bachelor of arts, at Monash Universities Clayton Campus, in psychology and sociology and plans to undertake her studies for honours in 2014 with post graduate studies in psychology.
She said after Year 12 she was unsure what she wanted to do for a living but now, after studying psychology, she has decided to pursue it as a career.
