FOR those who love to fly, the ideal day out is coming up at the Clyde North Radio Controlled Flight Training centre.
On Saturday 9 February, an open day will be held at the flying site in Tuckers Road with all visitors who wish to have a go at flying a model aeroplane welcome.
Owners Keith and Wayne Francis begun the business two years ago and have successfully taught dozens of new students, who knew nothing about flying, to become confident pilots and to fly some great models.
The Clyde North site boasts a concrete airstrip which provides an ideal runway for the model plans, no matter what weather conditions are on the day.
Owners are proud to have taught boys from as young as eight, to men as old as 72 how to construct and fly these model planes.
They invite father and son teams but warn confident dads, their sons often pick up the tricks of the trade a lot faster.
Teaching is based on the full size aircraft experience and includes formal circuit training, along with the effect of controls and flying in the wind.
All those who are interested or want to find more about lessons should come down to the open day, with owners willing to answer everyone’s questions.
