Cross-country day proves a winner

STUDENTS jogged their hearts out at Cranbourne South Primary School at the school’s annual cross country marathon.
It was a whole-school event as the kids ran different distances, with the preps running 500 metres and the older students trying competing over three kilometres.
Sports teacher Petrina Blackmore said the children loved the day and were all wandering around sporting their ribbons by the end.
Ms Blackmore said each house also had the opportunity to win points for best behaviour and best cheering.
“Luckily the weather held out and it only rained for about two seconds,” she said.
“We were a bit worried. The clouds got blacker and blacker but luckily didn’t hit. Any other time the rain is very welcome.”
Ms Blackmore said the top eight students in the older age groups would now compete in the district cross country event on 29 May.
