Thieves lay claim to carpet

COMFORT under the feet seems to be the motive for a burglary in Cranbourne South recently.
Police said a house under construction on Waterhouse Way was broken into some time between 2pm on Friday, 20 April and 8.30am on Monday, 23 April. This was after the thieves took down and removed temporary fencing from around the house.
The thieves then removed the carpet from inside the house, leaving the underlay. The basic grey carpet was worth about $500.
Police said it was a lot of effort to go to to remove the carpet when there were more likely other smaller and more valuable items to steal.
Anyone with information contact Detective Senior Constable Ollie Gaspari at Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661.
