SCHOOL holidays had barely begun before a Cranbourne primary school was broken into.
Thieves stole a flat screen monitor from Cranbourne South Primary School, on Pearcedale Road, between 12.10am and 1.20am on Saturday.
Police said the thieves gained access to the main corridor by forcing open the front door to the administration area. They then smashed a window to a locked office.
The monitor was removed from one of the workstations.
Police said the offenders also attempted to steal a computer hard drive, keyboard and portable stereo.
However, all three items were left on the floor next to the workstation.
Police said an alarm sounded and the thieves must have been disturbed.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Senior Constable David Measham at Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661.
