Doorknock for election update

RESIDENTS who are not enrolled to vote are being encouraged to update their details.
A major doorknock by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is underway in the federal seat of Flinders to help people who have moved address and not updated their electoral enrolment.
The initiative comes in preparation for the upcoming Federal election.
Divisional returning officer for Flinders Robert Gostelow said AEC officers wearing identification badges would be visiting residences between 27 March to early May from 4pm to 7pm on week days, 9am to 7pm on Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.
“Anyone who has moved address and not updated their enrolment should check because they may have been removed from the electoral roll and they may be unaware of this,” he said.
Federal legislative changes mean people will no longer have a week to enrol after the 2007 election is called and so must enrol now.
To enrol or update details, pick up an enrolment form from any post office or electoral office or from the AEC website at www.aec.gov.au or call 13 23 26.
