Runaway car kills owner

A HAMPTON Park man has died after a car he was fixing rolled over him on Tuesday night.
The man, 49, was fixing the engine in the driveway of his Winnima Avenue home when the car moved forward and struck him.
Police said the man was working on the electrical system of the car with the engine running and standing in front of the car when it moved forward, knocking him to the ground.
The car moved forward several metres, dragging the man under it.
The car engine was still running when the man was found dead under the car by a relative.
The man was believed to be fixing the car between 6.30pm and 8.10pm when the accident happened.
Police have impounded the vehicle for a mechanical inspection and a report will be prepared for the coroner in relation to the man’s death.
