Council drums up support for Idol

CASEY’S musical youth are encouraged to get out their guitars, drums and singing voices and apply for this year’s Casey Idol.
Heats for the competition will be held next month at The Factory in preparation for the massive final in June.
It is open to all those under 25 who live or attend an educational institution in Casey.
Casey mayor Colin Butler invited all young local performers to audition for a spot at the talent quest as part of the annual Mayoral Charity Concert.
“It has long been known that amongst Casey’s children and young people are some very talented entertainers,” Cr Butler said.
“In addition to showcasing the best of Casey’s performers, all proceeds from Casey Idol will be put to use in our community through the Mayoral Charity Fund.”
Individuals or groups will be divided into two categories – primary school and open, with an entry fee of $5 per act.
Heats will be held on Saturday, 14, Sunday, 15 and Monday, 16 April at The Factory – Performing Arts Rehearsal Centre at the Casey Indoor Leisure Complex, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne East.
As spaces are limited, performers are encouraged to book an audition time by contacting the mayor’s secretary Colleen Holland on 9705 5200.
The Casey Idol Final will be held on Saturday, 2 June at Arthur Wren Hall in Hampton Park.
For more information or an audition form, contact City of Casey Customer Service on 9705 5200.
