Fatal smash

By Sarah Schwager
A WOMAN has been killed after a truck ran into the back of her car in Lyndhurst yesterday.
The fatality occurred about 2.30pm on Thompsons Road between Evans Road and the Western Port Highway.
A police spokesman said the truck driver was treated for minor injuries but the woman, who was driving the car and aged in her 20s, died at the scene.
No one else was involved in the accident. The crash is still being investigated.
In another car accident on Tuesday, a Hampton Park man was lucky to survive after his car came off the road and rolled in Hallam. The man, in his early 20s, was trapped in his car after it rolled and its roof collapsed on Hallam South Road near O’Grady Road about 12.20am.
He was taken by helicopter to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries, although Sergeant John Blackburn of Endeavour Hills Police said the injuries were not life threatening.
Dandenong Rescue crew members freed the man while the Hallam Country Fire Authority pumper, police and paramedics also attended the incident. It has not yet been determined how the crash occurred.
