CRANBOURNE police played a pivotal role in thwarting a stolen property syndicate and recovering $50,000 worth of goods in the process.
Seven people face charges ranging from theft through to deception, and will front Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 23 March.
Victoria Police from Dandenong, Cranbourne and Footscray conducted Operation Vogue in conjunction with fraud investigators from an unnamed major department store.
Detectives from Cranbourne’s Crime Investigation Unit led Operation Vogue’s investigations.
Six search warrants were executed in the south-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, including Dandenong, on 9 January.
Police seized clothing, manchester, cosmetics and kitchen appliances as well as a substantial amount of cash.
Inspector Bob Hill said Operation Vogue was a great success and resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of stolen property.
“The operation has resulted in the dismantling of an organised criminal network which was responsible for committing numerous deceptions,” Inspector Hill said.
