Lions say thanks

THE Lions Club of Cranbourne has thanked local traders for their gift donations for last year’s giant Christmas stocking raffle.
All 3000 raffle tickets were sold up until 6.45pm on the night of the draw, along with 577 Lions Christmas Cakes.
Elaine Evans from Cranbourne North took out the first prize.
Cranbourne Lions Club president Diane Barker said the value of the prizes well exceeded the expectation of the wonderful response from the Centro Cranbourne and Homemakers Shopping Centre traders who gave so generously.
“The proceeds from this raffle will go back into the Cranbourne community in supporting the needy and projects that the Lions Club of Cranbourne adopt during the year,” Mrs Barker said.
Some of the money raised also allows the club to sponsor local children aged eight to 12 to attend the Lions Village Licola Camps throughout the year, giving them a full week of outdoors activities along with spending time with other children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Mrs Barker said the Lion Christmas Cake Project helped Lions Clubs support vision-impaired people, hospitals, disaster projects, sight and health foundations, hearing dogs for the deaf program and more.
“Cranbourne people, thank you for buying one of our Lions Christmas Cakes. You have given great support in buying our cakes this year,” she said.
