CRANBOURNE police are stepping up their watch over local petrol stations after a recent spate of drive-offs.
Senior Sergeant Bernie Kaminski said a special unit at Cranbourne CIU were investigating the petrol thefts, most of which have happened on major arterial roads such as South Gippsland Highway and Westernport Highway.
He said police had so far managed to catch most of the offenders after reviewing footage from closed circuit cameras located at the petrol stations.
They are warning people to think twice before offending.
