Revellers robbed

By Sarah Schwager
A HAMPTON Park family was robbed as they sat in their lounge room celebrating on New Year’s Eve.
A thief slid unnoticed into an adjacent room, stealing the family’s personal belongings as the clock ticked over to 2007.
The husband and wife, along with their son and daughter-in-law, had left their things on the dining room table.
Senior Sergeant Bernie Kaminski from Cranbourne CIU said $2000 worth of property was stolen, including a purse with driver’s licence and credit cards, four mobile phones, a wallet and a Canon digital camera valued at $570.
The back sliding door, located near the table, was closed but not locked at the time.
Sen Sgt Kaminski said none of the family saw or heard anything.
However, a man wearing a white cap was seen near the property at about 11pm.
The burglary happened between 11.30pm on New Year’s Eve and 12.30am on New Year’s Day at the Lauren Drive home.
Sen Sgt Kaminski urged people to always secure their doors, including back doors, even when they were in their house at the time.
Anyone with information about the burglary is urged to contact Detective Senior Constable Ollie Gaspari at Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
