Mega Macca charity cash

CRANBOURNE residents put their money where their mouths were to help make last year’s McHappy Day at the Cranbourne store the country’s biggest.
Christine Bucello, store manager at McDonald’s Cranbourne, thanked the local community for achieving the highest number of Big Macs sold in Australia on McHappy Day on Saturday 18 November.
The store sold a whopping 2135 Big Macs on McHappy Day – the highest number of Big Macs sold across Australia for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
“We are thrilled to have achieved the highest Big Mac sales in Australia, and thank all staff, volunteers, celebrities and VIPs for encouraging the community to enjoy a Big Mac and wear a wristband on McHappy Day to help seriously ill children,” Ms Bucello said.
On McHappy Day, $1 from every Big Mac and profits from every $2 wristband went to RMHC.
Across Australia more than $1.7 million was raised – the highest amount ever raised on McHappy Day.
The funds will go to RMHC, which supports a number of programs throughout Australia that help seriously ill children live happier, healthier lives.
In the past 15 years, money raised on McHappy Day has gone towards such programs as building and maintaining 12 Ronald McDonald Houses across the country, which provide a home away from home for the families of seriously ill children.
The money has also gone to the Ronald McDonald Learning Program which helps children get back to school quicker after a long period of illness, the RMHC Cord Blood Bank program and five Ronald McDonald Family Retreats.
