Town stores under siege

POLICE are concerned about ongoing break-ins at two general stores.
Both Pearcedale and Cranbourne South’s general stores have been repeatedly broken into in the past few weeks.
Owners of the stores are furious and at a loss about what to do.
In each incident, the thieves break a window before climbing in and stealing items such as cigarettes, alcohol and cash.
Police said fingerprints and blood have been found at the scene at both stores but have not yet been identified.
In the latest incident, the Cranbourne South General Store was broken into last Wednesday, 13 January at about 1am.
Cigarettes, spare change and alcohol were stolen.
On both 27 and 29 November, JLC’s General Store in Pearcedale was broken into, with a metal bar used to smash a window.
Cigarettes and DVDs were stolen.
The owner of the Cranbourne South General Store said he would be stepping up security.
He urged neighbours and anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious to be vigilant and report any information to the police.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Senior Constable David Measham at the Cranbourne CIU on 5991 0661.
