A CRANBOURNE woman has been selected as an Australian delegate in a world youth program that will see her shipped around the world.
Eloise Brown was recently selected for the Ship for World Youth Program, which aims to foster intercultural understanding among young people.
Ms Brown, 30, works as a youth worker with local government.
She was selected by the Australian Government for the program, and will also fulfil the role of assistant national leader.
The program is run by the Japanese Government, and there are 11 Australians among 260 young people from 14 countries.
“This is a wonderful program and I am very proud to be involved, representing not only Australia, but my local community,” Ms Brown said.
She leaves Australia on Tuesday, 16 January, spending some time in Japan before boarding a cruise liner.
She said the ship would make a port of call in Brisbane and was also to call on Fiji and Tonga. But because of political unrest, new ports of call were now being considered.
Over the seven-week program, the delegates will participate in activities that include delivering research papers, attending lectures by international speakers, seminars and discussions on topics of global significance.
Delegates will also meet dignitaries such as the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister of Japan, as well as leaders of other countries visited.
Ms Brown said the Australian delegation was now seeking support from local businesses and organisations to help present quality Australian gifts to Japanese dignitaries and host families.

“We are also gathering information about the many facets of Australian life to share with the other participants,” she said.
