Festive dinner in need of diners

CHRISTMAS will come early for those in need in Cranbourne. A regular event on the local calendar, the Cranbourne Community Kitchen is now holding a Christmas special.
Those in need are invited to the Christmas event on Tuesday, 19 December for a festive dinner of roast turkey and baked ham. Santa will also make a special visit.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said that with the rise in interest rates, petrol prices, child-care costs, industrial relations reforms and financial pressures placed on families, there were many residents in Cranbourne who were simply doing it tough, some tougher than others.
Those helping to put together the Christmas special for Cranbourne residents will include The Reverend Paul Creasey, coordinator at William Angliss Hospital’s Casey Cafe Phil Sealey, William Angliss staff, councillor Steve Beardon and National Australia Bank Cranbourne branch manager Ann Douglas.
The Christmas event will be held from 5.30pm to 8pm at the William Angliss Casey Café at the Casey Library Complex, 65 Berwick-Cranbourne Road, Cranbourne.
The hospital is also looking at holding a Seniors Community Kitchen at some stage next year.
If anyone would like to help sponsor the community kitchen by donating money towards the dinners, contact Jude Perera’s office on 5996 2901.
