Christmas cheer at cup

– Brad Kingsbury
A CROWD of 4000 celebrated the festive season at Cranbourne Harness Racing Club’s showcase meeting, the Decron Cranbourne Pacing Cup, on Saturday night.
On track, the main race was won by Bacchus Marsh trained horse The Warp Drive driven by Jodi Quinlan while younger crowd members were entertained by pony trots, little athletics races and a host of children’s activities.
Club chief executive Jacquie Richardson was thrilled with the successful night that included a disco after the final event and said the meeting was a fitting end to 2006.
“It was a good atmosphere, a good crowd and a successful meeting all around,” she said.
“People were happy and the crowd was well up even though it was a bit cool, making it a great night.”
The next event to be hosted by the club will be the Kids Night Out at Cranbourne on Friday night, 5 January.
