Grass fire probe

POLICE are searching for witnesses to help with investigations into a grass fire on public land in Cranbourne last Friday.
Four fire trucks were called to the corner of Cameron Street and the South Gippsland Highway after a fire was started on a 40 to 50 metre patch of grass between 2.30pm and 4pm.
Firefighters found piles of rubbish and mulch had caught fire.
Police suspected someone was dumping rubbish on the site when it either caught fire or they tried to burn it off.
Earlier in the day firefighters were called out to a grass fire in Tooradin.
Anyone with information on the incident in Cranbourne should call Senior Constable Dunn at the Cranbourne Police Station on 5991 0600.
