Sitting MPs score top spot

TWO of the sitting MPs in lower house seats affecting the Cranbourne district have drawn top spot in their ballot papers.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera and Lyndhurst MP Tim Holding will each be the first name on their electorates’ ballot papers at the 25 November state election following the official draw last Friday.
The Nationals candidate Jim King will top the Hastings ballot paper while Labor MP Rosy Buchanan was drawn in fifth spot, just in front of Liberal candidate Neale Burgess, who will sit on sixth spot.
Australian Greens candidate Meg Tanti drew top spot on the Narre Warren South electorate ballot paper with Labor candidate Judith Graley drawing third spot on the paper.
Mr Perera said the ballot draw was not a significant win in politics.
“Each individual would have a preferred political party that they will vote for and will vote accordingly, no matter where the candidate appears on the ballot paper,” he said.
The ballot papers drawn last Friday are what will appear on voting slips at the election.
