CASEY preschoolers will be encouraged to improve their language skills through a story time kit launched last week.
The Stimulating Story Time Kit for playgroups in the City of Casey aims to enable young children from new born to school age to engage in stimulating story time activities and improve their literacy skills.
Edrington Ward councillor Mick Morland, who officially launched the kit, said it would expand literacy opportunities for children and their families.
“It’s never too early to engage children in stories and activities to help their development, and going to playgroups is a great way to encourage their progress,” Cr Morland said.
“Casey’s playgroups provide opportunities for children to interact with other children, use their creativity, and start their literary journey which will help them in their future.”
There are 75 playgroups in Casey.
To find a playgroup near you or if you are interested in starting a new playgroup, contact City of Casey playgroup development officers Jodie Soutter or Kim Reynolds on 9705 5200.
