Celebrations up and away

CRANBOURNE South Primary School celebrated its 50th birthday last Friday with performances, balloons, a cake, a circus and plenty of cheering.
Birthday celebrations included a performing arts presentation by the school’s band, dance groups, Wakakirri team, choir and circus groups.
Official presentations involved the cutting of a birthday cake and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
The school also celebrated the opening of the school’s fitness track.
The ribbon was cut by school captains Chenoa Williams and Nathan Dodd, who then started a countdown to release message balloons in the school colours.
All students formed the shape of a 50 to represent the 50 years since the opening of the school in 1956, releasing hundreds of balloons into the sky.
Students also all contributed recipes and pictures to a 50th birthday cookbook and tea towel.
Principal Joseph Kelly said the school community was indebted to the group of parents who worked hard to plan the celebrations.
“With over 100 past students, teachers and parents attending the celebrations, it was truly a wonderful day,” he said.
