A CRANBOURNE primary school has received a rich reward for its commitment to literacy and numeracy.
Courtenay Gardens was last week one of 22 Victorian schools to be presented with a $5000 Literacy and Numeracy Achievement Award by Education Minister Jacinta Allen.
The presentation was part of celebrations for Victorian Literacy and Numeracy Week, which showcases the quality of education in government schools.
Courtenay Gardens assistant principal Nicole Bottriell said the school was delighted to receive an award for the second year in a row.
“The award looks at how we support our middleyear students with critical literacy skills.
“We help them to develop a deeper understanding and awareness of what they’re reading.
“Our staff work really hard and this just shows that all their hard work is paying off,” she said.
