A NEW employment company has opened up its doors in Cranbourne and has already helped several locals turn the corner in their sometime troublesome lives.
Empowerment through Employment is the slogan of WISE Employment – a not-for-profit company set to officially open its Cranbourne office next week.
The organisation has already helped Cranbourne resident Andrea Frain in her quest to re-enter the workforce and is expected to do the same for many others in a similar situation.
And local businesses are also set to benefit with WISE looking to develop strong relationships to make sure clients are placed within the appropriate organisations.
Ms Frain, 40, has had, by her own admission, a tough trot in life but has bounced back with stable employment over the past year.
“I have been a bit of a battler in my life and I’m hoping it is starting to turn around now,” Ms Frain said.
The single mother has been employed with Australian Carpet Cleaning Services for the past 10 months and is currently working as a cleaner in the Cranbourne Botanic Gardens.
However, all was not well when Ms Frain struggled to gain work for some time.
“I looked for work nearly every day for four months and didn’t get anywhere,” she said.
The new foray back into the workforce was assisted by another WISE office – with the new Cranbourne branch now looking after any further help Ms Frain may require.
“I am really enjoying it. I have just finished training another girl and now she is working with me at the gardens.”
Cranbourne WISE site manager Nick McConachy said the establishment of the new office would be of great benefit for anyone facing some form of hardship in getting back into work.
Among those who WISE assists in finding work are those with a criminal record, single parents and people who have a form of disability.
Anyone looking to find out more about WISE Employment, either someone looking for work or a potential employer, can call the Cranbourne office on 5996 3511.
