Age of learning on display

SOME of the finest work from Cranbourne’s U3A members was presented to the public at an open day last week.
Many people know of the U3A (University of the Third Age) but fail to realise what the organisation actually does and the exhibition at the Old Shire Officers was designed to overcome this.
U3A refers to the third age of life, post both childhood dependency and parental responsibility and the university allows people to escape isolation and make new friends at a more senior age.
Paintings, folk art, calligraphy and computers made up only a handful of the subject matter discussed on the day with several other topics regularly taught.
The open day was coordinated to coincide with the City of Casey’s Ageing Positively Festival.
