Legend addresses seniors

RON Barassi delighted the crowd when he spoke to senior citizens at Casey’s Ageing Positively Expo yesterday (Wednesday).
The special day was highlighted by the appearance of Mr Barassi and various other speakers at the Cranbourne Salvation Army Centre.
Participants also took up the challenge of several workshops on the day, including women’s and men’s health, chair based aerobics, a YMCA walk and a memory workshop.
Mr Barassi, 70, was inducted as the 26th legend into the Australia Hall of Fame at an annual dinner on Tuesday night.
One of the biggest names in football, he has had a memourable 12 months in which he was named Melburnian of the year as well being an official role model for ageing people. The event was organised as the main event in Casey’s Ageing Positively Festival.
Several community groups have thrown their doors open to the public and embraced the more senior years of their life.
Computer classes, walk and stretch seminars, Italian dancing and a bus tour made up only a few of the many different activities throughout the two weeks.
