BYO grog ban will be enforced at cup

POLICE have issued a stern warning to racegoers that the first-time banning of BYO alcohol will be strictly enforced at the Cranbourne Cup this Sunday.
Members are also urging motorists to avoid the racetrack area during the peak times, between 11am and 1pm and 5pm and 6.30pm, to make sure traffic flows as smooth as possible.
Cranbourne Senior Sergeant Bruce Kitchen said police would be assisting traffic to exit Grant Street on to Sladen Street on Sunday.
“There will be a lot more security and a high police presence throughout the day,” Sen Sgt Kitchen said.
He said security staff would be checking bags as people entered the racetrack and all alcohol would be confiscated.
“People should leave their alcohol at home,” Sen Sgt Kitchen said.
“There will be a lot more places inside the track that will be selling alcohol.”
