Road rage appeal

POLICE are appealing for drivers to stay calm on the roads after a recent spate of road rage incidents in Cranbourne.
A 56yearold Cranbourne woman was left shaken after a violent attack in Clarendon Street last week.
Police believe the woman veered to avoid two men standing on the road about 1pm on Thursday, 25 August and one of the men kicked out at the car as she drove past.
She continued driving until a red Ford station wagon stopped behind her car shortly after, with one of the men getting out of the car.
He punched the woman’s windscreen, shouted verbal abuse and attempted to punch her in the head before running back to his car and driving away.
The man has been described as being Caucasian, with short brown hair, a slim build, and having a nose and lip ring.
A 26yearold Cranbourne woman was targeted on the South Gippsland Highway in Lyndhurst.
Police believe the woman cut another driver off at the intersection of Abbots Road about 12.40pm on Wednesday, 27 July.
She stopped at the traffic lights, where another male driver parked in front of her and got out of his car.
He approached the woman while shouting abuse, punching the bonnet and banging several times on the driver’s side window.
The man drove off after another motorist stopped to help.
The car is described as being a silver Ford Fairlane.
In another incident, a 46yearold Cranbourne man was punched in the head after approaching a man loitering outside his house.
The man went outside after hearing noises and saw a man in his late teens or early 20s standing at his car.
The man shouted at him to leave and was punched on the right side of the face.
The attacker fled to a waiting Holden Commodore sedan. An orange early model Datsun followed.
Senior Sergeant Trevor Teer of Cranbourne police urged drivers to be more tolerant and show greater patience to other motorists.
“Police do not condone any forms of road rage,” he said.
“We strongly discourage drivers from getting out of their cars. If they have an issue, take down the registration number and contact police.
“Do not take matters into your own hands.”
Anyone with information on the above incidents is asked to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Cranbourne police on 5995 4681.
