Village shops taking shape

CONSTRUCTION has begun on the new Lynbrook Village Shopping Centre.
The centre, on the corner of the South Gippsland Hwy and Lynbrook Boulevard, will comprise 33 specialty stores, a drive-through takeaway shop, a Coles supermarket and Liquorland.
About 350 car spaces will be included in the centre’s car parking areas, and covered awnings will also be a feature.
John Di Natale, development manager for Coles Myer Property Developments, which is developing the centre, said Lynbrook Village’s streets incorporated broad boulevards and tree-lined streetscapes.
“Lynbrook Village will be a modern and lively everyday shopping centre and is much anticipated by the local community,” Mr Di Natale said.
“The aim is to have a varied retail mix including a fresh food precinct, family style restaurants, bank, a variety of cafes and takeaway outlets, medical centre, pharmacy, newsagent, hair and beauty salons and a travel agent.”
Colin Earner from Retail Advantage, Coles Myer’s leasing agent, said there had been a lot of interest in the specialty stores with several local and national businesses committing to the development.
Some stores already on the plans include Pharmacy Select, Brumby’s Bakery, Lynbrook Village Medical Centre, Linden’s Fresh Meat and Poultry, Haircuts at Lynbrook, Civic Video, MPRE Lynbrook, Foiled Again Hairdressing, Lynbrook Village Fruit Plaza, Bumble Bee Florist, Lynbrook Newsagent and Lotto, Hampton Park First National Real Estate, Clark’s Bargain Basement Gifts, Star Box Noodles and Sushi, and Flakey Jakes Fish and Chips.
The centre is planned to open early next year.
Lynbrook Village and the Coles supermarket will boast a number of Ecologically Sustainable Development (ESD) principles including recycled heat energy, efficient water management schemes and a high use of recycled materials.
Lynbrook Village will also incorporate several pieces of street art commissioned with notable local and national wood sculptors.
