LYNDHURST Secondary College students rocked their way to success at the Vodafone Arena last Thursday.
The students won five awards in the heats of the 2006 Rock Eisteddfod Challenge.
Their performance about technology taking over, called Control Alt Delete, was awarded best concept, set design, costumes, drama and visual enhancement.
The school’s drama teacher Sasha Trompf said the kids had loved the experience.
“We haven’t entered in the Rock Eisteddfod for 10 years but they were just amazing,” Ms Trompf said.
“They were so excited with all the glitter and glam and make-up.
“They were very mature but also innocent – the country kids going to the city.”
The school told a story about a group of factory workers who had gone on strike.
Their boss called some scientists who invented a machine that took over running the factory, with a boy sitting in the machine taking the controls.
The workers then worked out how to destroy the machine.
The school had 40 dancers and 30 backstage crew from year eights to 12s. Ms Trompf said all the students, teachers and some of the parents had worked hard on the choreography, set and costume design.
