A HAMPTON Park dry cleaner was broken into on Monday morning just moments before the owners were due to arrive.
Spectrum Dry Cleaners co-owner Tim Russo said he received a call at 6am after the alarm went off at 5.53am.
The rear door had been jemmied.
The thieves then rifled through the Somerville Road premises before breaking into the till and stealing the float money.
Mr Russo said they had already had to replace the back door.
“It didn’t affect the business too much,” he said. “It’s just a huge inconvenience.
“They didn’t steal a lot of money but we still have to pay for the damage they cause.”
He said the security guard had arrived shortly after the alarm went off but did not see anyone.
