CRANBOURNE Storm Basketball Club is encouraging young people to join up and keep active.
On Tuesday night, Casey mayor Kevin Bradford presented a $500 cheque from his ward funds to the basketball club.
“Local sporting clubs, such as Cranbourne Storm Basketball Club, provide terrific opportunities for young people to keep fit, improve their skills and develop friendships,” he said.
“I strongly encourage young people to participate in local sporting clubs, and residents to support local teams, as the success of clubs often relies on the work of volunteers and community goodwill.”
The funding will go towards helping the club hire training facilities.
Cranbourne Storm Basketball Club currently has a membership of 97, comprising boys and girls teams, from under nines to under 18s.
The club is represented at Casey Indoor Leisure Centre in Cranbourne and Dandenong Basketball Stadium on Stud Road.
For more information on becoming involved with Cranbourne Storm Basketball Club contact Peter Bridge on 0412 962 952.
