CASEY police will target antisocial behaviour this month in an attempt to reduce the number of people affected.
The focus is part of a state-wide awareness campaign titled ‘Antisocial behaviour is not on’, with community service announcements going to air this week and running until the end of September.
Region Five Assistant Commissioner Paul Evans said police across the region were serious about reducing the rate of antisocial behaviour.
“All Victorians have a right to feel safe in their communities and antisocial behaviour can often be perceived as intimidating and harassing and it’s simply not on,” Mr Evans said.
Antisocial behaviour can include damaging property, hoon driving, abusive language, drug use, graffiti, offensive or aggressive behaviour, intoxication, underage drinking, drink driving and indecent exposure.
“Part of Victoria Police’s commitment to reducing these incidents is ensuring the public is educated about the repercussions of antisocial behaviour,” he said.
A postcard will be circulated across the state with information about what constitutes antisocial behaviour and how breaking the law can affect lives.
