Water savers for the home

CASEY residents are encouraged to keep buying water-saving products for their homes.
The State Government has extended its Water Smart Homes and Gardens Rebates scheme for another year.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera said the scheme would help people save water, as well as save money on their water bills.
“Consumers get a price rebate on water-saving products and save further on water bills.”
Mr Perera said nearly 130,000 rebates had been claimed since the program started in 2003.
“The products purchased with rebates are saving more than one billion litres of water every year,” he said.
Products and services included in the Rebate scheme are the AAA shower roses, dual flush toilet, greywater system, rainwater tanks, water audit, tank to toilet connection, and other water-saving goods, including mulch, drip-irrigation systems, tap timers, trigger nozzles, soil moisture and rain sensors.
Victoria’s Environment Minister, John Thwaites, said Victoria was leading the way with a comprehensive plan to cope with climate change to give Victoria water security for the next 50 years and restore environmental flows to the state’s rivers.
“Victorians have responded with a great water-saving effort,” Mr Thwaites said.
Mr Thwaites urged people to get water-saving products, information and advice from trained staff at any of the 60 accredited specialist Water Saver Garden Centres.
