AN ELDERLY Hampton Park man was devastated when his home was ransacked last week and his coin collection stolen, police said.
Police said burglars broke into his Clive Street house some time between 10am on 31 May and 11am on 1 June.
A Louis Vuiton and a Rolex watch were stolen, as well as a 21-inch Panasonic television and the coin collection. The items were valued at $3000.
Police said the thieves used scissors to cut a mesh window and climbed into the house, before ransacking it.
The coin collection included a complete set of 50 cent coins, commemorative coins and some European coins dating back to 1945.
