Graffiti program set to continue

THE education component of the City of Casey’s graffiti management program has been extended for a further four years.
The council decided to again award the contract with the Warner Group Pty Ltd to run graffiti education programs.
Each year students in grade five and year eight at all of Casey’s primary and secondary schools participate in the program.
River Gum Ward councillor Wayne Smith said the graffiti education program, specifically designed by the council’s youth workers and psychologists, was an important part of graffiti awareness.
Cr Smith, also a school teacher, said he had attended the program run at his school and it had been an enjoyable session and very informative.
He said Casey council was the pioneers of this type of program and the Warner Group should be congratulated on its work running the program.
Councillor Steve Beardon agreed that the Warner Group had done a fantastic job running the program and had managed to engage students from around Casey.
The Warner Group will run the program until August 2010, after first being awarded the contract in mid-2005.
