Excitement hits the streets

CRANBOURNE will come alive on Saturday when thousands of motorcyclists converge on the town centre for the annual Cranbourne GP Run.
Riders and their machines will gather in their thousands to travel en-masse to Phillip Island for the 2015 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix.
From 8.15am on the day, there will be plenty of entertainment to keep the whole family enthralled with a variety of children’s activities, food stalls and entertainment.
At 10am, the pace picks up for the highlight of the day when guest celebrity Eddie Perfect will wave-off the great gathering of leather and chrome.
Mayor Mick Morland said the wave off was a “fantastic start to the Grand Prix”.
“This event is not just for motorcycle enthusiasts. It provides a great day out with family and friends, with something for people of all ages to enjoy.
“There will be plenty to do and see throughout the morning, with the streets of Cranbourne to come alive from 8.15am with roving entertainers on stilts, food and novelty stalls lining the streets and local vendors also getting in on the action.
“This year there will be face painters, a scratch art children’s workshop and Daytona car arcade game machines in Childers and Bakewell streets.
“Casey Youth Services and Spectrum Entertainment have also organised a multicultural celebration in Lyall Street, with local cultural singers and dancers set to perform and activities, including the Casey 360 bus, for visitors to enjoy.
“The pace will pick up at 10am when celebrity guest Eddie Perfect officially waves off the motorcyclists from a cherry picker, igniting an exciting roar of motors and stream of chrome and colour.”
Cr Morland will be represented on the day by his colleague Cr Louise Berkelmans.
“Cr Berkelmans is really looking forward to seeing Eddie Perfect. She’s going with her autograph book,” he joked.
