STAR of the screen and stage Eddie Perfect will wave off this year’s GP Run.
Perfect has made his mark across the entertainment and arts industries in television, comedy, music, theatre and as a writer, and will be a great drawcard to what is already Casey’s biggest and most exciting community event.
At the age of 36, Eddie is one of Australia’s most diverse and prolific writers, composers and performers, having carved out a successful career across many fields.
Perfect’s list of credits on the small screen include starring on Channel 10’s hit drama series Offspring, Play School, the 2011 Logie Awards, Kath and Kim, Stingers, Blue Heelers and Spicks and Specks.
His list of credits in theatre is just as extensive, having written and toured several shows including Shane Warne the Musical.
Perfect is also a regular fixture on the Australian comedy circuit, having hosted the 2014 Melbourne Comedy Festival Oxfam Gala and has toured many solo music comedy shows around Australia, New Zealand, in Edinburgh and London to much acclaim, winning numerous awards.
Perfect’s chosen charity for this year’s run is the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC).
Founded in 2001, the centre provides food and material aid, health and legal services, employment, education and training, social and community development and social enterprise to more than 2000 people.
City of Casey Mayor Mick Morland said the council was thrilled to be able to partner with this great organisation for Casey’s biggest annual event.
“The City of Casey has a large population of asylum seekers and refugees and organisations, such as ASRC, complement work being done by council.
“With a centre in Dandenong, the ASRC has provided invaluable support and assistance to the asylum seeker community across this region.
“The ASRC is a non-profit organisation that is committed to upholding the human rights of all people seeking asylum.
“They have played an important role in Melbourne’s south-east to protect asylum seekers from persecution, support their wellbeing and dignity and empower people to advance their own futures,” Cr Morland said.
“On the day, ASRC will have a stall in Childers Street, Cranbourne, and volunteers will be roaming the event with collection tins, so I encourage you to show your support and give what you can,“ Cr Morland said.
