CRANBOURNE and its people, businesses and clubs will be the focus of a big family fun day being organised for next year.
Community group Spirit of Cranbourne is organising the inaugural ‘Cranbourne Day Extravaganza’ for Sunday 22 February to celebrate all things the area has to offer.
President Judy Davis said the group was all about promoting more community spirit in Cranbourne and this event would hopefully achieve just that.
Ms Davis said they anticipated to have stalls from a range of local businesses and organisations, along with rides, activities and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
The group is also looking at incorporating awards into the event, which would recognise Cranbourne residents who go above and beyond for their community.
For the event to be the success they hoped it to be, Ms Davis said they desperately needed businesses to sponsor it so they could make it something special for the community.
“What better way to give something back to the residents than by businesses sponsoring a fun event for them,” she said.
“We want this to be a really great event and through sponsorship get lots of rides, an animal farm, jumping castle, mini golf and entertainment.”
Ms Davis said she hoped the event would not only be a fun day out, but a chance for businesses, organisations and sporting clubs to promote themselves to the community with stalls.
“We want the community to know what’s available to them,” she said.
“It will hopefully be great for business as well, so people know what’s on offer in their local community.”
Ms Davis said this event, and others organised by the Spirit of Cranbourne, all aimed to create a better sense of community in the area.
“If we can encourage people to be more community-minded, then what a better place Cranbourne would be,” she said.
“This is all about bringing the community together and building more community spirit in Cranbourne.
“It’s a low socio-economic area, so we want it to be affordable and give locals the opportunity to enjoy a fun day out with their family.
“We hope that they won’t have to put their hands in their pockets for anything but food and drink.”
Ms Davis urged businesses to support the event by providing sponsorship.
