AN EYESORE along Grant Street in Cranbourne was finally tended to after 12 months of looking like a tip.
Cranbourne man Jeff Bailey was fed up with the state of the area behind the old Cranbourne swimming pool, which he labelled as a ‘Casey disgrace.’
Mr Bailey, who lives within walking distance of the complex, said the problem had deteriorated over the past 12 months.
“Rubbish was only getting worse and worse,” he said.
“It has increased over the past six months and the building has been in bad repair too.”
Mr Bailey said it was a long time before anyone took some responsibility for the problem.
The City of Casey Council had reportedly told Mr Bailey that the problem came under the jurisdiction of the Department of Primary Industries, which did not provide comment before deadline.
On Tuesday afternoon after a long battle, the rubbish was cleared from the area, much to the surprise of Mr Bailey.
He was told that volunteers from the Recreation Reserve may have tidied up the area.
Prior to this, he said everyone had “run for cover.”
The resident of 35 years wanted to determine who was responsible for this as it had become a “real eyesore.”
The old complex also appeared to have become the victim of vandalism and break-ins.
